The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) decided to part ways with Electronic Arts, reclaiming control of its successful video game franchise. It was only a matter of time before the renowned sports series made a comeback with a fresh project, as the organization had promised to expand the franchise with exciting new offerings.

This morning, we got our first look at FIFA Rivals, the latest entry in the soccer series and the first game following FIFA's split from EA. This title will take a different approach than what players might expect, delivering a free-to-play soccer experience with an arcade-style twist.

FIFA Rivals will stand apart from the traditional simulation-focused titles in the series. Instead, it will adopt an arcade-style gameplay approach, moving away from some of the mechanics typically associated with soccer simulators.

The game will also be free-to-play, making it accessible to all soccer fans at no cost. FIFA Rivals is being developed specifically for iOS and Android mobile devices and will include a microtransaction system based on blockchain technology.

So, how will FIFA Rivals work? Players will be able to create and manage their own soccer teams, improve their lineups, level up, and, of course, compete against others. The game is being developed by Mythical Games, and its first trailer can be viewed below:

When Will FIFA Rivals Launch?

Soccer fans can mark their calendars—FIFA Rivals has a launch window. The wait will be a bit long, as the game is set to debut in summer 2025, meaning between June and August of next year.

As previously mentioned, it will be a free-to-play game for iOS and Android devices, available for download at no cost from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. However, no images or gameplay footage has been revealed yet.
