A year ago, Five Nights at Freddy’s made a successful leap to the big screen. Despite critics giving it negative reviews, the target audience left the theaters satisfied. Now, all eyes are on the sequel, with filming set to start in just a few days.

Even though Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions confirmed they were working on a follow-up to the 2023 film, many details remain a mystery. So far, we only know it will debut in December 2025, feature new animatronics, and that several members of the original cast will return.

Luckily, it seems the creative process is in full swing, and we may soon hear more updates about the production. In fact, a well-known actor involved in the project just revealed the date filming will begin.

Matthew Lillard, the villain of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, confirms when filming will start

For a long time, fans speculated about when and where the filming of FNAF 2 would begin. Adding to the rumors were reports suggesting that shooting would start in either the summer or fall. In fact, a report from Collider a few weeks ago indicated that the actors would start filming sometime in October.

Now, actor Matthew Lillard, who portrays Steve Raglan and William Afton in the Five Nights at Freddy’s film adaptation, discussed the topic during a recent interview with ComicBook and finally answered one of the big questions about the sequel: When does filming start?

During the conversation, the Hollywood star was asked if he had already begun filming the sequel to the popular horror movie. He confirmed that filming would begin in 10 days, meaning production is set to kick off on October 27, 2024. This aligns with earlier reports.

Let’s remember that Louisiana Entertainment, a website that tracks multiple entertainment productions, lists a project called “Music Box,” which fans believe is Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. If that assumption is correct, filming will begin later this month and extend until January 31, 2025.

During the interview, Matthew Lillard joked about his beard, saying it looked terrible because he would soon begin filming the sequel to the movie based on Scott Cawthon’s video games. Elizabeth Lail and Josh Hutcherson are also expected to reprise their roles.

But tell us, are you excited about the new FNAF movie? Let us know in the comments.
