An annoying mod allows fans to perform overpowered attacks in the fighting game

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is a dream come true; not only does it bring back all the elements that made the Budokai Tenkaichi saga a success, but it also dares to incorporate new mechanics, game modes, and tons of characters. The community is thrilled, but that doesn’t mean the game is free from problems. One of the most recent issues is linked to the online mode.

The fighting title follows the same path as previous games and includes plenty of content for the single-player experience, from Battle Episodes to classic CPU matchups. However, it takes a step forward in competitive elements by including a robust multiplayer mode.

Recently, a viral clip made the community believe that cheaters might be causing trouble in online matches.

Through a reddit post, user JokingBr2 shared a clip that sparked discussions in the Spike Chunsoft and Bandai Namco game community. The video raised alarms and questioned the multiplayer security system.

Specifically, the clip shows a fan playing as Gogeta struggling to fight another player using Kefla. In the footage, the fusion of Kale and Caulifla can almost instantly unleash an energy beam, preventing her opponent from counterattacking.

The clip fueled discussions within the Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO community, with many fans arguing that the Kefla player had installed a mod that grants an infinite Ki bar, allowing unlimited special attacks.

The mod author claimed it couldn’t be used in online matches, but the page offering it was removed from Nexus Mods, meaning it can no longer be downloaded. This suggests that reports of cheaters might stop, at least for now.

However, there's another possibility: enhancement capsules. For those unaware, in-game stores in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO sell special items that boost a fighter’s attributes, such as increasing damage or reducing energy consumption.

Some in the community believe the supposed cheater used the “God Ki” capsule, which cuts the required Ki for special attacks in half. It also refills energy if the attack misses or fails to hit the opponent.

As a result, some think the Kefla player wasn’t cheating but simply using that special capsule. Nonetheless, players can disable character enhancements in matchmaking options. If you still encounter players who recharge Ki abnormally, they are likely cheaters.
