Switch 2 can wait: Nintendo reveals Alarmo, an interactive clock that will wake you up with music from Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, and more franchises

The new device will be available starting today for some players

For months, there have been rumors about the imminent announcement of new Nintendo hardware. This morning, the company surprised everyone by revealing a device that, to some people's disappointment, is not the anticipated Switch 2. It is Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, a new and peculiar project.

Nintendo will release a clock that will help all its fans wake up in the mornings. As expected, the company will add a very special touch to this part of the day, as Alarmo will feature music from Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, and other franchises.

Additionally, it will be an interactive collectible, as it will include a sensor that, upon detecting your movements, will play iconic sounds from various games in the Nintendo Switch catalog.

What is Nintendo Alarmo, when will it debut, and how much will it cost?

Alarmo is an interactive alarm clock with a Nintendo theme. It has a simple circular design in red and a special sensor on the top. Players can set it to wake up with music from Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure.

The most remarkable feature of this device is that it has a sensor that detects the movement players make in bed just before waking up. When it does, it will play iconic sounds from each of the mentioned titles.

The clock also has interactive faces with Nintendo characters, functions to play a melody every hour, relaxing sounds for sleeping, and an option to check how much movement was made during sleep.

Nintendo promised it would be possible to download new alarms in updates that will be released for the clock. Moreover, players who link their Nintendo account will get additional scenes from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Alarmo debuted today, but only in the United States and Canada. It is available for $99.99 USD at My Nintendo Store for Nintendo Switch Online users and at the Nintendo store in New York for the general public.

It will arrive in the rest of the world in various retail chains in early 2025. Below, you can see a trailer showcasing and detailing Alarmo's functions:
