PlayStation is one of the most important companies in the industry thanks to its vast legacy. It will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary, and of course, Sony has plans to mark this special occasion with all its players and fans.
In fact, this morning, they revealed some of the surprises they are preparing to celebrate this milestone. The company will offer gifts and surprises related to iconic franchises like God of War and Gran Turismo. Sony's surprises for PlayStation's 30th anniversary
To start, Sony Music announced a collaboration with Spotify to offer soundtracks of iconic games through the subscription service. From October through January 2025, they will release soundtracks from games like God of War, God of War II, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Twisted Metal, Starhawk, and Unit 13.
Additionally, the music will be available for purchase on platforms like Amazon Music and Apple Music. Starting today, Spotify users have access to a special playlist celebrating PlayStation’s 30th anniversary.
Furthermore, the company announced My First GT, a free trial version for more players to experience Gran Turismo 7. The title will feature a selection of cars, events, and tracks for a nostalgic experience. It will be available on PS5 and PS4 later this year.
Another exciting announcement is a free online multiplayer weekend from September 21 to 22, during which players can enjoy multiplayer on PS5 and PS4 without an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
During the same weekend, PS5 users can participate in various tournaments to win a special avatar commemorating the brand’s 30th anniversary. There will be competitions in NBA 2K24, NBA 2K25, Madden NFL 24, MLB The Show 24, EA UFC 5, TEKKEN 8, and Guilty Gear -Strive-.
Lastly, Sony revealed Shapes of Play, a new product collection created by the PlayStation console design team. The line includes a board game, a magnetic block set, and more. It will be released in December 2024, but only available in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Benelux. The company promised more announcements in the future.
