Through a statement, Nintendo confirmed that one of its most popular games is on borrowed time. The free title will close its doors at the end of this year, and its fans will no longer be able to play it; however, we know that it will return with a paid version.
The game in question is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, a mobile title for iOS and Android that debuted on November 21, 2017. This installment was well-received thanks to the recent success of the franchise, but its free version will come to an end after 7 years.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will close its doors and have a paid version
Fans of Animal Crossing still have several months to enjoy Pocket Camp, as the mobile title will close its doors on November 29. From this date, the free version will no longer be available for download or play on iOS or Android devices.
Its community can purchase Leaf Tickets until November 26 and redeem them until the 28th of the same month. At the same time, the Pocket Camp Club subscription service will no longer be available.
To allow players to continue enjoying Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp in the future, Nintendo is developing a paid version of the title. Users will be able to transfer their save data to keep all their progress.
The paid version will be available once the free app ends its service. The most significant difference between these two apps is that the paid one will no longer include in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Additionally, it can be enjoyed without needing an Internet connection. However, this will cause some features to be unavailable, including Market Boxes, gifts, and visits to other players' campsites. It will also not be possible to transfer or use Leaf Tickets. Finally, Nintendo confirmed that the release date and price of the new Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp app will be revealed in October.
“Since service began on November 21st 2017, for approximately seven years we have been honored to see everyone's lovely, diverse campsites grow and flourish. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the many users who have loved Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp,” the company stated.
