After multiple controversies and delays, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League finally debuted. Fans of Rocksteady are worried, as for many the title's numbers on Steam are not encouraging at all, especially since it is a game-as-a-service.
To put this in perspective, the initial performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was compared to that of Marvel's Avengers, a superhero title that generated high expectations but, in the end, was a resounding failure.
Suicide Squad did no better than Marvel's Avengers on Steam
Due to the popularity of the franchise and the fact that it is a game-as-a-service, many expected Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to easily outperform Marvel's Avengers and other similar titles that debuted recently.
However, the numbers for Rocksteady's game already set off alarm bells for some fans. As of this writing, the new title has 10,153 active users. While its peak user count has been 12,667.
While the numbers alone are not bad, it is striking that Marvel's Avengers achieved a peak of 31,165 users. That said, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League didn't even get half as many users in its debut, when usually the highest numbers are recorded.
For many, this is a bad sign for Rocksteady's project, as they believe that the numbers will not necessarily improve in the coming weeks. On the other hand, there are players who think that the title will somehow rebound and will be able to continue for several seasons.
The reality is that for now nothing is set in stone, but it's certainly striking that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League doesn't have many more players when titles like Palworld came out of nowhere and have millions of active players.
