Five Nights at Freddy's Movie Was Conspicuously Absent from The Game Awards 2023
On December 7th, The Game Awards 2023 took place, a popular awards ceremony celebrating the best games and creatives of the year. This edition featured a special category that recognized video game adaptations released in recent months.
Castlevania: Nocturne, Gran Turismo, Super Mario Bros. La Película, Twisted Metal, and The Last of Us were this year's nominees, with the live-action series inspired by Naughty Dog and PlayStation's game winning the night.
Of course, the absence of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie at the awards gala did not go unnoticed by fans, who argued that it deserved at least a nomination.
"Even though FNAF didn't stand a chance of winning the Best Adaptation award, it should have been mentioned at The Game Awards. But congratulations to The Last of Us for winning," commented one fan. "The fact that FNAF wasn't nominated for Best Adaptation is ridiculous," said another.

Was Five Nights at Freddy's eligible to compete at The Game Awards 2023?
According to the official website of the event organized by Geoff Keighley, eligible nominees had to be available for public consumption by November 17, 2023, at the latest. Emma Tammi's film hit theaters in October, so it had the opportunity to participate in the awards; the judges simply did not vote for that production.
Although disappointing, this situation was predictable. The Five Nights at Freddy's movie excited fans but received very poor ratings from both the general audience and critics.
