Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League generated much excitement upon its official reveal, but the enthusiasm turned into concern when Rocksteady confirmed earlier this year that it is a live-service game. Although skepticism still lingers, recent news has brought hope to the community.
This new title developed by the creators of the Batman: Arkham series is a cooperative multiplayer experience, where fans can play as one of the Suicide Squad members and team up with up to 3 friends to progress through the campaign.
There is a significant emphasis on the cooperative component, but Rocksteady confirmed that those who prefer it can complete the story solo, as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League allows players to switch characters at any time.
Despite being a good idea that allows players to approach the game in their own way, there is a significant restriction: a permanent internet connection is mandatory, even when playing solo. While that limitation will still be present at launch, there is good news.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Will Have an Offline Mode
This week, the development studio shared a new trailer for the multiplayer video game at The Game Awards 2023. This allowed us to see more story scenes and gameplay sequences showcasing the abilities of Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Deadshot.
Fortunately, there was more news. Through a post on the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Discord, a developer confirmed plans to implement an offline mode that allows players to enjoy the story without an internet connection. The bad news is that it won't be available at launch, as it will come in a patch.
"We are pleased to confirm that we plan to add an offline story mode that will give players the option to experience the main campaign without an internet connection. Our goal is to add that update in 2024, and we will provide more details when it is available," said the Rocksteady representative.
Although live-service elements will still be present, the introduction of this offline mode seems to be evidence that developers are listening to player feedback.
But tell us, do you think this title will exceed expectations? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5 starting February 2, 2024.
