Sony is still on everyone's lips after the report of an alleged hacking of its systems. The company finally broke its silence and spoke about the issue, as it knows that its customers are concerned about what the attack may imply for their security.
Through a brief statement, Sony informed that it is already aware of the alleged attack and that it has already started an investigation. For their part, the attackers gave the company an ultimatum, threatening to release the stolen information very soon.
Sony is already investigating alleged attack on its systems
In statements to IGN, the Japanese company stated that it has already launched an investigation into the alleged attack perpetrated by Ransomed.vc, a group that stole various information from its systems and threatened to sell or release it to the public.
Sony did not confirm or deny the attack as such at this time. Nor did it elaborate on its plans to conduct the investigation into it. "We are currently investigating the situation, and we have no further comment at this time," the company merely said.
On the other hand, we do know that the attackers have already given the company an ultimatum. Ransomed.vc assured that it will publish all the stolen information if it does not find any potential buyer. In case this happens, the data will be released on September 28.
The hacker group claimed that they would not negotiate with Sony, as the company was not interested in paying to ransom their information. The original report revealed that Ransomed.vc is in possession of thousands of Sony Group files, presentations and more content.
