Microsoft has made it clear that it wants to acquire major Japanese companies to boost Xbox and gain more presence in that region. One of the most talked about names is always Capcom, a studio that owns popular franchises.

Unfortunately for Microsoft, Capcom is not interested in being bought or acquiring new studios. This was revealed by Haruhito Tsujimoto, the company's chief operating officer, who stated that they would reject any offer from the tech giant.

Capcom to rule out any takeover bid

During a talk with Bloomberg (via VGC), Tsujimoto explained that their focus is and will be organic growth. For such reason, they are not interested in any kind of acquisition or merger. The executive knows that Capcom has attracted the attention of many companies; however, they are not willing to sell out to anyone.

“I think there have been many merger and acquisition talks in the game industry. There was once a time we were a target, but rather than acquiring an outside company, we prefer organic growth.

“It is important to train and develop human resources in-house in order to carry out growth strategies. I also believe we can utilise external partners, but we have no intention of acquiring companies," Tsujimoto said.

The COO was questioned directly about a possible takeover offer from Microsoft. His answer was not surprising, as he stated that they would reject the offer. He did, however, clarify that they could agree to partner with Microsoft on an equal footing.

“I would gracefully decline the offer, because I believe it would be better if we were equal partners,” the executive concluded.
