Capcom doesn't want to be left behind in the race to buy studios, so it announced the acquisition of a support developer that has worked on important projects. We are referring to Swordcanes Studio, who collaborated in the development of Final Fantasy XVI, Hi-Fi RUSH and Street Fighter 6.

The company specializes in the creation of 2D and 3D graphics. Their work caught the attention of Capcom, who decided to pull out their wallet to keep the talented team to work on important upcoming projects.

Swordcanes Studio joined the Capcom family

Swordcanes Studio will now be a subsidiary of Capcom and will work on various games. Previously, the company collaborated in the production of character models and various animation works.

As we told you, its relationship with Capcom is not new, as it collaborated in the development of Street Fighter 6. He also worked in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, in the base game and in many other productions of other companies.

"Swordcanes strength lies in 3D computer graphics production technology in consumer home video game development and the studio has carried out work on major Capcom titles in the past. As such, Capcom decided to make the studio its wholly-owned subsidiary to sustainably bolster its developmental and technological capabilities," the company explained.

Capcom stated that it will continue to invest to improve its technological capabilities, as this way it will be able to guarantee better productions for players. Thus, it seems that the studio plans more acquisitions in the future.

Swordcanes Studio is a relatively young company, as it opened its doors in May 2018, in Japan. From now on, it will focus on working on the various productions that Capcom has in its hands.
