Mortal Kombat 1 is preparing for its release in September. Of course, players are very excited and eager to discover which characters will be part of the initial roster and those who will join the fray through updates. In that line, Ed Boon and company shared some very interesting news.
NetherRealm Studios was at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 to share updates about the highly anticipated fighting title. During the panel attended by voice actors and developers, the identity of the new fighters who will be on the roster was confirmed.
The studio shared a new trailer that showcases new scenes from the story mode and confirms that Tanya, Baraka, and Li Mei will be selectable characters in Mortal Kombat 1. They also revealed that Darrius and Goro will be Kameo Fighters.

Undoubtedly, the most prominent fighter is Li Mei, who is making her first appearance in the main cast since Mortal Kombat Armageddon in 2007. For this installment, she will have a new backstory and a never-before-seen design.
Homelander, Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and more will make up Mortal Kombat 1's first DLC pack
Fortunately, the surprises continued at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Shortly after showing the first trailer, Ed Boon and company shared a CGI teaser that confirms the identity of the 6 characters that will make up the first Kombat Pack of additional content.
The leaks turned out to be true, as Homelander from The Boys, Peacemaker from DC Comics, and Omni-Man from Invincible will be the guest fighters. Takeda, Ermac, and Quan-Chi complete the first DLC pack of the fighting video game.
Homelander, portrayed by Antony Starr, will be available in March 2024. Unfortunately, the developers did not mention the release date for the rest of the characters. However, Peacemaker looks like John Cena.
