Mega Man is one of the most beloved franchises in the industry; however, its fans believe that Capcom has not given it the necessary attention over the past few years. Gamers have been asking for a new installment of the franchise for quite some time, but it is unknown when it will arrive.
Because of this, Capcom decided to finally talk about the future of the franchise. The company shared bittersweet news, as it confirmed that it is already working on the future of the saga. However, everything indicates that it will be a long time before we see the next Mega Man.
Capcom is already working on the future of Mega Man, but...
During a Q&A session, Capcom stated that it is looking for the most appropriate way to build the future of Mega Man. It knows that fans love the franchise, so it wants everything to go smoothly with future installments of the series.
Currently, the company is working on defining key gameplay concepts and more details for new iterations of the franchise. With this, Capcom confirms that it has not forgotten about the saga; however, it seems that projects will be a long time coming. So fans shouldn't expect an imminent announcement or anything of the sort.
"Mega Man is one of Capcom’s historic IPs and is loved by fans, and as such we want to take care in how we develop the series.,” Capcom said. “We are considering how to approach the production of new entries in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc." the developer stated.
Unfortunately, this is not a confirmation of a new Mega Man game as such. Fans will have to be patient and wait even longer. Recently, the studio released Mega Man: Battle Network Legacy Collection, but hasn't developed a main installment since Mega Man 11, a title that debuted in 2018.
