Creator of God of War: how can Zelda: TOTK look like this and not be criticized?

David Jaffe made an observation and caused controversy

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally among us. As expected, it received almost universal praise from specialized critics and players; everything indicates that it will be a solid candidate for the 2023 GOTY. However, there is also some controversy around it.

Since the first advances of Nintendo's title came to light, the visual aspect became a topic of discussion. Even the popular streamer xQc criticized the graphics and claimed that the game looked like a mobile proposal, which angered a sector of the community.

Now, David Jaffe, creator of God of War, contributed his two cents to the conversation. And yes, controversy is served.

ARE THE GRAPHICS OF THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TEARS OF THE KINGDOM BAD? DAVID JAFFE STARTS DEBATE

Through a post on his personal Twitter account, the creative affirmed that he cares little about production values and graphics, as he emphasizes that "a great game is a great game." However, he hinted that many players think differently and give a lot of importance to the visual aspect. Therefore, he was surprised that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom did not receive criticism for its presentation.

“I don't care about realism in games. And I'm not saying the game is bad; to me, gameplay is always the main (and often times) only thing I care about. But this game is pretty bland and old looking IMO and given how important visuals seem to be to others, it seemed worth discussing”, said Said David Jaffe in response to a user.

The creator of God of War's statements generated mixed opinions. Some players stated that artistic style and mechanics are more important than graphic fidelity, while others claim that, indeed, Nintendo's game looks outdated and that people should criticize it, just as it happened with other recent releases.

But tell us, what do you think of David Jaffe's observation? Let us read you in the comments.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available for Nintendo Switch.
