It seems that not even the company Zuckerberg was spared from the ravages of inflation

This news will surely make all those virtual reality fans very sad. The thing is that Meta (a company formerly known as Facebook) has shared the lousy information that there will be a price increase on the latest VR device, the Meta Quest 2.

This announcement was made through the official Meta social media, commenting that it will adjust the price of the Meta Quest 2 models. Thanks to this, the 128 GB storage edition will start to cost $399.99, while the version which offers 259 GB of internal storage will be provided in exchange for $499.99. The increase will be given on August 1st.

This means that both models went up $100. This is a considerable increase that will not be well received by all the users who saved up to own their VR glasses.

Unfortunately, the bad news does not end there since Meta also aims to increase the price of accessories for the Meta Quest 2 and the refurbished units of this virtual reality device.

However, to make up for this increase, Meta announced that new unit purchases of Meta Quest 2 would include a digital copy of Beat Saber, one of the best virtual reality games. This way, players will get at least one game at no extra charge. It is worth mentioning that this offer will be available from August 1 to December 31, 2022.

If you wonder why Meta decided to increase the prices of their products, which is a very valid question, we explain that this is because they seek to increase investment in the world of virtual reality.

"Now, we're making a change that will help us continue to invest for the long term and drive the VR industry forward with best-in-class hardware, action-packed games, and cutting-edge research to truly next-generation devices."
