Diablo Immortal: some countries will ban the premiere of the game for this reason

The free-to-play title for PC and mobile will debut this week

As many fans know, the release of the Diablo Immortal title is scheduled for June 2 and will be available on iOS, Android, and PC.

This has all its fans excited; however, not everyone will be able to enjoy the saga since some countries will prohibit its premiere.

To give you context, Diablo Immortal will debut as free-to-play, so it will be accessible to anyone who wants to download it for free on mobile and PC. This means that since the video game will be free, Blizzard will monetize it through a system of microtransactions and loot boxes.

WHY WILL SOME COUNTRIES BAN THE GAME PREMIERE?

Unfortunately, this problem affects two countries, Belgium and the Netherlands, as both have been very clear about these practices that they consider gambling and do not allow in games.

An Activision spokesperson confirmed that the game would not debut in either of those two countries due to their micropayments and loot boxes regulations.

“Unfortunately, players in the Netherlands and Belgium will not be able to install Diablo Immortal due to the countries’ gambling restrictions.

“The loot boxes in the game are against the law in your country, so unless the gambling restrictions change, the game will not be released in the Netherlands and Belgium.” the company claimed.

We imagine how gamers from both countries will feel knowing that one of the most anticipated titles by fans will not come to their country due to regulations. However, this is not the first time this has happened; they previously disabled Overwatch loot boxes so that they could continue to operate in Belgium.

Surely this will not be the last time it happens either; the current trend in video games is precisely this business model, free to play with micropayments and loot boxes.

Let's hope the industry uses another method to not leave out players from the Netherlands and Belgium.
